Here are some silly things I’ve found this week.
First up, this video of a little girl and her kitty singing We Built This City on Rock and Roll. Oh, and I don’t care what anyone says, I love this song. I used to wheelchair dance to it.
Number two, this study on the Agoutis, a cute little rodent living in South America. They found that Agoutis that woke up later and went to sleep earlier were less likely to get eaten by ocelots. Between midnight and dawn, ocelots outnumbered agoutis 30 to 1 and if the agouti was out and about, he had a pretty high chance of getting eaten. Agoutis who lived where there was plenty of food got to sleep later and go to bed earlier, agoutis who lived in a poor region got eaten.
Agoutis are apparently pretty similar to us. On their blog they conclude:
So agoutis are kind of like us, busy mammals with too much to do, and not enough time in the day. The next time your alarm seems too early, and the sky is still dark outside, consider the chances there is an ocelot outside your bedroom – maybe its ok to hit snooze one more time.
So, perhaps there are ocelots out and about in Shell Knob during the day and that’s why I sleep better during the daytime than I do at night?
I read that there are in fact number 1 pencils. as well as numbers 2, 2 1/2, 3 and 4 pencils and sometimes other intermediate numbers. Huh.
Finally, if you were ever into playing Mario Brothers, this guy got the lowest possible score while winning the game. Takes incredible timing and quite ballsy behavior as far as I’m concerned. I sucked at Mario. I don’t think I ever saved the princess. The precise jumps amaze me.
