Anyone ever watch Iron Chef on the Food Network?  I’m not sure why, but it has become one of my favorite late night shows.  I have it on right now.  The secret ingredient tonight is carrots.  It’s interesting to see what they do with some of these ingredients.  If you’ve never watched, you should tune in some night.

The ADA in cooperation with foodfit.com has launched an enewsletter called Diabetes Foodsmart which promises to “bring the fun back to food for those with diabetes.”

My first thought was, “This I gotta see…” Anyway, I’ve signed up and we’ll just see how much fun it brings back to me! Turns out the ADA has a bunch of newsletters you can sign up for on various topics of interest. You might want to check it out.

The ADA has a new tool intended to help us manage our diabetes better.

My Diabetes Connector is an online diabetes management tool that allows people with diabetes to securely track and monitor blood glucose levels. Displayed through a series of simple charts and graphs, users can easily track results and trends in their diabetes-related data to help improve their diabetes health. My Diabetes Connector allows input from multiple blood glucose meters and also provides a blood pressure log, an exercise log and an area in which to track medications.

The biggest problem I see with it is that it costs $10 per month. I’m sure some folks can afford an extra $120 per year for this software but that seems a little costly to me. There are certainly some cool features such as being able to easily share results with your care providers – if they are willing to take the time to look. The very generous and talented Kevin, over at parenthetic-diabetic has shared his excell sheet for free which does much of what the ADA software apparently does. He’s a little busy right now with his new twins but I know he recently updated the software. There’s also myinsulinlog.com for some free basic charting.
