drink sticks

I think when I’ve written before about my deep, abiding love of drink sticks, it was on my personal blog. At that time, I was using “recycled” plastic water bottles but now I’m using a nalgene bottle and filtered water. I can be environmentally friendly and hydrate myself at the same time. Plus, the bottle has volume markings which make it really easy to mix my drink sticks, water and ice. (There are other bottles out there that I’m interested in, but wasn’t this post about drink sticks?)

At any rate – in addition to the crystal light, spark, great value and lipton sticks I already use – Ocean Spray has just put out a line of their juice flavors in drink sticks! Yay for those of us who don’t drink juice since despite the vitamin C, juice is basically liquid sugar. I’ve tried the ruby red grapefruit juice and it tastes more like actual grapefruit juice than any other drink stick brand I’ve tried. Ditto on the cran and cran-apple, neither of these are overly sweet. I’m also enjoying the white-cran peach flavor.

I’ve made a new category for members who want to recommend a product that they use and enjoy. [Whoops! I see we already had a product review category!] As usual, this does not mean spam! I am in no way connected to Ocean Spray nor am I being paid or otherwise compensated for giving my opinion. I’m just passing on a tip to anyone who likes drink sticks and cranberry juice!

  1. I like the drink sticks, too. (Around here we just call them “singles”). I haven’t got any favorites, I just like being able to mi up a single serving instead of two quarts worth.

  2. These sound like fun.
There is nothing i have seen around here

    :D

  3. I haven’t tried these but they sound like a good deal… I gotta get off the diet soda somehow. :)

  4. I just started using the drink sticks by Crystal Light and Lipton. I sometimes wonder who the “tasters” are who decide what natural Strawberry, Blueberry, and Raspberry flavors should taste like. I think they need to spend some time on a Berry Farm, picking and eating some warm sun ripened berries. Maybe you just can’t put those delicious tastes and flavors into a dry powder inside a drink stick. I guess that’s why they have artificial flavors.

  5. Hi Florian, it reminds me a little bit of when I was a vegetarian. I rather liked the Boca burgers (at least I think that was the brand). What I always heard from others was that the veggie burger didn’t taste like a hamburger. I agree, it didn’t taste anything like a hamburger – but if you didn’t expect it to taste like a hamburger, it was good in it’s own way.

I’m a fan of the drink sticks. I like some better than others but oh, yeah, I agree they don’t taste a lot like natural fruit flavors :D I don’t expect orange sunrise to taste exactly like orange juice – but it still mostly takes care of my need for orange juice without pumping myself full of carbs.

Have you found any that you like? I really like Lipton’s Green Tea with Honey.

  6. My current favorite is the Crystal Light Live Active Natural Raspberry Peach flavor. I think most of them are too strong. I like them mixed in a slightly larger bottle of water than the directions call for.
