Back to the Drawing Board

It’s Tuesday – time to start writing down everything I eat and how I feel.  Maybe this time I’ll find the answers I’m looking for.  I’d really like to talk to my doctor about how I’ve been feeling lately, but which one?  My endo seems only to be interested in my BG numbers, the cardio wants to know how my heart and BP are doing, and, of course, the gastro only wants to know about my GI problems.  I want to jump up and down and yell at all of them – I’m a person, I have one body, see all of me, treat all of me.  We are looking at moving from this area sometime in the next year or so.  I’m thinking maybe it’s a good thing to be forced to find a new doctor every few years.  I have good doctors, but they think they know me and have stopped looking at me as a whole being and see me only as malfunctioning systems.

  1. How’s it going Eve? I haven’t decided which of my 8 foods set my tummy off but I’m suspecting oats at the moment. Evil Oats! Die evil fiber!

I hope you’re feeling better and the plan is going well.

  2. I am feeling better. It finally dawned on me that Boniva could be the culprit in the reflux thing. I called the pharmacist and he advised that I not take it again until after I have a chance to discuss it with my gastroenterologist. I didn’t suspect it at first because it had been nearly 3 weeks since I had taken this month’s dose. I’m keeping my notes on what I eat and how I feel. In a couple weeks we’ll see if any of it relates to what I eat.

I’m still having some BP issues that I’ll be asking the cardio about on the 24. When I stand up my BP drops by about 20 points. I do pretty well in the early part of the day, but after noon I start to have issues with lightheadedness. Thanks for asking.

  3. I saw an advertisement for some once per YEAR calcium boniva-ish drug the other night. Maybe that’d only make you sick for like half the year?

I hope you are starting to feel better. Dr. Great and Terrible increased my metformin and it has torn my GI tract apart. Even backing back down has not solved things yet. What were we saying about wanting to be normal?

  4. Half a year of this type of side effects would probably send me over the edge. I’d be looking for the kind of med that puts you out of your misery permanently. :D
