The goal is to raise $1,000,000 for juvenile diabetes research.Team H2V riders dipped their tires in the Halifax Harbor on September 14th 2007 to commemorate the start of their journey. The H2V story began when Kyle Balagno,Team H2V rider, promised his 12 year old daughter Taylor, who has type 1 diabetes that a cure would be found by her 18th birthday.Throughout their journey, the five H2V cyclists rode in three-hour shifts on a continuous rotation, averaging a speed of 30 kilometers per hour.

Watching the Team H2V arrive in Vancouver on TV today brought back memories of the first diabetes bike-a-thon held in Vancouver in the 1970s. Our T – shirts had REACH printed on the front

  1. Great story! Thanks for sharing. I am totally in awe of the people that do these amazing bike-a-thons and other challenges to raise money for diabetes (and other diseases). I start thinking about what I can do. I can’t bike but surely there is something – I thought last year about making a wreath to auction for diabetes research but waited too late.

Anyone have other ideas about what we can do personally?
